Editorial decision policy

There are 5 possible outcomes for a manuscript submitted to Physiologia Plantarum:

Accept: if the manuscript is outstanding and does not need to be sent back to authors before printing.

Accept pending revision: if minor changes (editorial changes or corrections such as inclusion of missed references or methods details) have to be made by the authors before publication.

– Reject with an invitation to resubmit: if the manuscript has potential but the inclusion of additional data and/or extensive rewriting is needed before the manuscript might be deemed acceptable.

-Reject with referral: Physiologia Plantarum has a partnership with Plant-Environment interactions (PEI), which welcomes the submission of reviews and research manuscripts that may not fit naturally in PPL. The decision to reject with referral offers authors the opportunity to have their paper automatically transferred to PEI.

Reject: manuscripts are rejected if the science is deemed not sound.

Rejected manuscript transfer to Plant-Environment Interaction

Authors of rejected manuscripts may be offered the automatic transfer of their manuscript, along with any reviews, to the journal Plant-Environment Interactions (PEI), for consideration. At this stage the authors will not need to reformat or rewrite their manuscript, and publication decisions will be made shortly after the transfer.

PEI is an open access journal. Before accepting the transfer of your submission check the following link to see if there is funding available to you to cover the Article Publication Charge (APC): http://bit.ly/WileyOAFunding. Manuscripts that have been transferred from Physiologia Plantarum to PEI will receive a discount of 20% on the APC.
