RECROP (Reproductive Enhancement in Crop Resilience to Extreme Climate, https://www.recrop-cost.com), an EU-supported COST Action, brings together experts from diverse plant science disciplines, including physiology, agronomy, genetics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, mathematics, ecology, and more. One of the main goals of RECROP is to establish a common language among researchers in crop science, particularly in relation to the methodologies used for stress application and evaluation of stress response and resilience.
In this special issue, initiated and edited by RECROP, we cordially welcome review articles that compile methodologies for assessing crop resilience to abiotic stress, with a particular focus on the reproductive phase. We invite contributions from various plant species and research areas, including but not limited to:
- Good practices for designing and performing an abiotic stress experiment
- Physiological methodologies for addressing pollen resilience to abiotic stress
- Physiological and cell biology approaches to assessing resilience in the female gametophyte
- Techniques to evaluate stress tolerance during the progamic phase
- Characterization of embryo and seed stress resilience
- High-throughput phenotyping methods for crop resilience
- Machine Learning, and AI tools for understanding and predicting stress resilience
- Molecular tools and biomarkers for examining stress responses and evaluating resilience
- Utilizing transcriptomic, proteomic, and metabolomic approaches to characterize stress response
- Mathematical modelling in plant response to stress
Please submit inquiries and abstracts to the editorial office by January 31st 2025 to avoid redundancy of topics. Once selected, you will have 6 months to submit your manuscript. Importantly, please indicate if you agree that your accepted proposal will be published on the Special Issue webpage.
Proposal deadline: 31st January 2025
Submission deadline: 31st July 2025
All submissions need to be sent via Wiley’s Research Exchange submission portal: wiley.atyponrex.com/journal/PPL.
