Yali Zhang is a Professor in agricultural sciences at the Shihezi University in China. His research focus lies on improving the photosynthetic productivity and water use efficiency in cotton plants, with a current focus on studying CO2 and H2O diffusion mechanisms in leaves. Next to his research activities, Yali is also involved in various patents and he thinks that as a scientist a responsibility exists to review other colleagues’ work, even though it sometimes is difficult to fit into a busy schedule. He thinks it is interesting to read the latest work in a certain research field and we are certainly happy about his efforts to help in the reviewing process for PPL in our category Ecophysiology and also for certain Special Issues. Yali will use his Reviewer reward to participate in a conference this year has yet not decided which one!
